CentreStage is proud to announce the cast for our 2025 Senior Troupe production of SpongeBob The Musical: Youth Edition. With four unique casts across Senior Classes A–D, this year’s Senior students (ages 12–18) are about to make a big splash on stage.
About the Show
Set in the vibrant underwater city of Bikini Bottom, SpongeBob The Musical: Youth Edition follows our favourite sea sponge as he faces the ultimate challenge—a nearby volcano threatens to erupt and destroy the town. In the face of fear, chaos, and doubt, SpongeBob and his friends discover that optimism, teamwork, and belief in yourself can save the day.
Packed with catchy songs written by legendary artists (including Cyndi Lauper, Panic! At the Disco, Sara Bareilles, and David Bowie), the show is an upbeat, hilarious, and heart-warming celebration of community, courage, and creativity.
Character Descriptions
SpongeBob SquarePants – Endlessly optimistic, kind-hearted, and determined to help others, SpongeBob believes in doing the right thing—no matter how big the challenge.
Patrick Star – SpongeBob’s loyal best friend. Often clueless, but always loveable, Patrick surprises others with his pure heart and unique perspective.
Squidward Q. Tentacles – The grumpy neighbour who dreams of stardom. Squidward masks his insecurities with sarcasm and self-pity, but deep down, he just wants to be appreciated.
Sandy Cheeks – The smart and brave squirrel from Texas. A scientist and martial artist who values logic, but always stands by her friends.
Mr Krabs – The money-hungry owner of the Krusty Krab. He’s greedy but has a soft spot for his daughter and his team.
Sheldon J. Plankton – The scheming villain with big dreams and small morals. He’ll do anything to steal the Krabby Patty secret formula.
Karen Plankton – Plankton’s computer wife. Witty, sarcastic, and often the real brains of the operation.
Pearl Krabs – Mr Krabs’ teenage daughter. Big-voiced and big-hearted, Pearl wants to be seen for who she is—not just as a business asset.
Mayor of Bikini Bottom – Loud, dramatic, and often in over her head as she tries to lead during the crisis.
Perch Perkins – The town’s news anchor. Delivers every line like a dramatic headline.
Electric Skates, Sardines, Townfish, and more – Add colour, chaos, and comic gold to the world of Bikini Bottom.
A Season of Performance
Each of our four Senior Troupe classes will rehearse and stage their own production of SpongeBob The Musical: Youth Edition, allowing students to fully immerse themselves in the rehearsal and performance experience. As a true ensemble musical, every student will have the opportunity to shine—whether as a lead, a comedic character, or part of the high-energy ensemble.
Bonus Showcase Opportunity
All Senior Troupe students will also have the opportunity to perform in our End-of-Year Musical Theatre Showcase at the Geelong Arts Centre in December 2025.
This additional performance allows students to explore new material, develop their ensemble craft, and experience a professional theatre environment. It's a celebration of their hard work throughout the year, and a highlight of the CentreStage calendar.
