There are moments in every organisation's journey that feel like a milestone. Today is one of those moments for CentreStage.
We are incredibly excited to announce that CentreStage's administration offices and talent agency will be relocating to our new headquarters at Fyansford and expand upon our existing presence at Rodney Road, Vines Road and Princes Highway*
This move represents far more than a new address. It represents growth, opportunity, and the next chapter in the CentreStage story.
Before we go any further, we want to reassure our students and families that our education and rehearsal programs are not changing locations.
Classes, rehearsals, productions, and educational activities will continue to operate from our established homes at 26 Rodney Road, North Geelong and Vines Road. These locations remain at the heart of our education programs and will continue to serve the hundreds of students who walk through our doors each week.
Our move to Fyansford relates specifically to our administration offices, talent agency operations, meetings, and future business growth.
For many years, our Princes Highway premises have been an important part of the CentreStage journey. That building has seen auditions, rehearsals, production meetings, casting calls, late-night planning sessions, and countless milestones. It has been the backdrop to some of our proudest achievements and has played a significant role in helping us become the organisation we are today. As an organisation, we know that by selling this asset will bring us closer to our dreams of building an affordable theatre in the north.
As CentreStage has continued to grow, however, it became clear that we needed a space that could support the next generation of our organisation.
Managing Director David Greenwood OAM said the move has been years in the making.
"This expansion keeps our roots firmly in the north, while allowing us to reach a whole new part of Geelong." "North Geelong, Norlane and the northern suburbs helped build CentreStage. The relationships, families, volunteers, students and supporters who have been part of our journey will always be incredibly important to us. This move allows us to continue serving those communities while expanding our reach across the wider region."
Interestingly, this is not a vision that appeared overnight.
In fact, CentreStage had anticipated this level of growth several years ago.
Plans were already being developed in 2021 to expand our footprint and prepare for the future. Like many arts organisations, businesses, schools and community groups, circumstances beyond anyone's control forced those plans to be placed on hold.
While the timeline changed, the vision never did.
"We had planned for this growth back in 2021," David said. "Unfortunately, the world had other plans for a little while. Like everyone in the arts industry, we had to adapt, rethink, and focus on navigating a very challenging period."
"What I'm most proud of is that we never stopped moving forward. We continued investing in our students, our productions, our agency and our community. Now we're finally in a position to deliver on a vision that has been years in the making."
Today, CentreStage is larger and stronger than ever before.
Our education programs continue to expand. Our productions continue to grow in scale and ambition. Our talent agency now represents performers working across theatre, television, film, voiceovers, commercials, cruise lines and live entertainment opportunities throughout Australia and beyond.
The move to Fyansford provides the space, infrastructure and flexibility required to support that growth for many years to come.
The new headquarters will become the home of our administration team and talent agency operations while providing a professional environment for industry meetings, talent consultations, business development, and future expansion initiatives.
Most importantly, it provides room to continue creating opportunities.
"CentreStage has always been about opportunity," David said. "Whether it's a child stepping onto a stage for the first time, a young performer securing professional representation, or a family finding a community where they belong, our role is to create pathways."
"This move gives us the capacity to create even more opportunities. It allows us to think bigger, plan further ahead, and continue building something that will serve the Geelong community for decades to come."
The move also reflects our confidence in the future.
Regional Victoria continues to produce extraordinary artists, performers and creative leaders. CentreStage remains committed to ensuring those individuals have access to high-quality training, professional pathways and meaningful opportunities without having to leave their community behind.
Our commitment to regional arts, youth development and community engagement remains as strong as ever.
If anything, it has grown stronger.
As we prepare to farewell our Princes Highway premises and settle into our new home in Fyansford, we do so with enormous gratitude for everyone who has supported us along the way.
To our students, families, volunteers, staff, creatives, alumni, industry partners and community supporters, thank you.
Every milestone CentreStage achieves is only possible because of the people who believe in what we do.
This move is not the finish line.
It is the beginning of an exciting new chapter.
The future is bright. The opportunities are growing. And we cannot wait to share what comes next.
Welcome to the next generation of CentreStage.
