ADDITIONAL ANNOUNCEMENT REGARDING CENTRESTAGE PERFORMING ARTS ACADEMY

15/3/2020

To the members of the CentreStage performing arts academy.

Recently, in the past 72 hours, CentreStage has made difficult but essential decisions for the benefit of the Geelong community. To protect the health of our own community and the broader communities we belong to, CentreStage is increasing preventive measures without creating unnecessary disruptions to the normal pursuit of our educational and artistic mission.

These guidelines represent our best judgement, at this moment, about practical steps we can all take to reduce risk for ourselves and for each other. These decisions have been extremely hard for us to arrive at and for our volunteers to process. However, we trust that you will respect our choices given these challenging circumstances.

I once again hope we can be sensitive to each other’s burdens in this situation and make accommodations to support one another where we can. And I count on every member of our community to make sure that the discrimination, shunning and bullying that sometimes accompany an outbreak never occur at CentreStage or within our community.

All CentreStage Performing Arts Academy classes from Monday 16th March at 11.59pm will be ceased until further information has been released by the Australian Government and Department of Education and Training.

We anticipate classes to resume on Saturday the 18th April with a "makeup" class pencilled during Terms 3 and 4.

Further information will be shared prior to the commencement of Term 2

We continue to encourage our network to actively engage with the Arts Wellbeing Collective (a complimentary service) and Beyond Blue for assistance whilst navigating this difficult situation.

We Thank you for understanding during this tough time and encourage you to not give up on the arts. Love theatre, be creative and support those most vulnerable around us.

Sincerely,

David Greenwood

Managing Director.
