GO MAMBO!!!! West Side Story to return to the Geelong Arts Centre

17/3/2020

To the members of the CentreStage community.

The past week has been hard. There is no other word for it. However, the support that has poured out in the form of phone calls, shoulders to cry on and emails has been over-whelming. As a community organisation, we really appreciate it.

Staging a musical is a mammoth process. It has included over 40 cast members, 30 Orchestra members, 40+ contractors and over 200 volunteers.

Whilst all CentreStage rehearsals and regular classes are postponed, we have a glimmer of hope.

CentreStage is pleased to announce our new dates for West Side Story.

Friday July 17 at 7.30pm

Saturday July 18th at 1.30pm and 7.30pm

Thursday 23rd July at 7.30pm

Friday 24th July at 7.30pm

Saturday 25th July at 1.30pm and 7.30pm

Sunday 26th July at 3.00pm

Wednesday 29th July at 7.30pm

Thursday 30th July at 7.30pm

Friday 31st July at 7.30pm

Saturday 1st August at 1.30pm and 7.30pm

Shortly the Geelong Arts Centre and CentreStage will contact ticket holders to offer the following;

1. Change your tickets to a July Performance

2. Refund your tickets

3. Donate your refund to the theatre company to help keep the company alive.

Once again, I hope we can be sensitive to each other’s burdens in this situation and make accommodations to support one another where we can. And I count on every member of our community to make sure that the discrimination, shunning and bullying that sometimes accompany an outbreak never occur at CentreStage or within our community.

The upcoming production of Priscilla the Musical scheduled for July 2020 will be postponed until further notice. Our anticipation is to re-stage this musical in early 2021 with the kind support of the Geelong Arts Centre and Origin Theatrical who have demonstrated their unwavering support for CentreStage over the past week.

We continue to encourage our network to actively engage with the Arts Wellbeing Collective (a complimentary service) and Beyond Blue for assistance whilst navigating this difficult situation.

We Thank you for understanding during this tough time and encourage you to not give up on the arts. Love theatre, be creative and support those most vulnerable around us.

Sincerely,

David Greenwood

Managing Director.
